November already???

First of all, I want to apologize for not having new pictures posted yet. (I'm sorry Chelsea!!) I don't know where time goes but I seem to be suffering from a lack of it. So here's the Band News....

Our Bearcat Band did an AWESOME JOB at Regionals a few weeks ago!!! We finished the season with the best show so far and everyone is so proud of how great you all did!!!! Nice Job at the Veteran's Day Parade as well.

The Band Boosters are already gearing up for the Winter Guard show which is in March. There will be an organizational meeting on Monday night, November 10 at 7 PM in the band room. Every year there are questions about the show and let me explain how it works. Even though only the Winter Guard and Indoor Drumline perform at the show, it is a FULL BAND fundraiser. So even if you are not part of the Winter Guard or Indoor Drumline, we need YOU to help!

October 17 and 18

I'm watching it rain and hoping this moves past us so we can have a wonderful fall weekend of band events. Tonight the Bearcat Band will perform at the football game in Abingdon. They take the field at 7 PM so don't be late as you don't want to miss the show.

Tomorrow, the band will head to Kingsport to compete in the
Tennessee Valley Showcase. This will be a great opportunity for you to come see the band in competition. We hope everyone will come out and support the band as they have worked hard since July on their show, The Contender.

Pictures Available Online

After looking around a little, I was able to locate the pictures from Music In The Castle. I also found the ones from the V-T Game so you can check those out too. They are available for purchase. I am not promoting them by any means, however, I do want you to know they are available :-)

Fundraiser success!

A great BIG Thanks to those band members that took the time to attend Game Time at Highlands Fellowship on Sunday morning. The band received a generous donation for participating.

Photos from TN High Competition

Unfortunately, the usual photographer for the band was unable to attend the TN High Competition due to a family emergency. There have been several requests for pictures so if there is anyone that took pictures that would be willing to share them with us, please send them to vhsbearcatband@gmail.com. We are also accepting pictures from any and all band performances if you have them and would like to see them on the website. Please remember that photos are subject to approval by the directors.

Coming up this weekend...Music in the Castle

The Bearcat Band is gearing up for their show at the Stone Castle on Saturday, October 4, 2008. The Virginia High Band will take the field at 8:00 PM. You want to get there early so you get a good seat and so you don't get "locked out". Remember, once the band is on the field, they close the doors and you have to wait till they are done. That's no fun! Personally, I can't wait to see the new things they are working on this week!!!

Davy Crockett Competition

A big SHOUT OUT to the band for a job well done at Davy Crockett High School on Saturday. The band received a rating of 1-Superior!!! Great show for the first time out in competition this season. How about leaving some words of support for our hardworking band members and staff!!

Upcoming Events!

The band will be performing at Davy Crockett High School in Jonesborough, TN this Saturday. They will take the field at 4:30 PM. Come on out and support the band!! Any other events coming up that I need to know about? Let me know and we'll get them posted!!

PS... stay tuned for "The Ballad"

The Contender

I am going to post a portion of Friday night's performance here. Unfortunately, there is a size limit so I have to crop the video down a bit, but you can download it in it's entirety on our website.

Now please sit back and enjoy watching the Virginia High School Marching Bearcat Band as they perform "The Contender". This is "The Opener"....

We'd love to hear from you!

Time Flies!!!!

They say "time flies when you're having fun", well I must be having a rip roaring good time because time has flown right by me. I've been asked where the pictures are from the first football game and I am not going to disappoint you...they are on their way!!! Thanks for being patient!
